Basketball Recap: Tri-Valley Takes a Loss

Tri-Valley has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the John Glenn Little Muskies. The Scotties were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Little Muskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

It was another big night for Stehl Bates, who went 11 of 21 on his way to 31 points along with six boards and three steals for John Glenn. The dominant performance gave Bates a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Davis, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Tri-Valley's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for John Glenn, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Tri-Valley and John Glenn should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Tri-Valley (ranked 84th) will meet Philo (ranked 493rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, John Glenn (ranked 27th) will meet Sheridan (ranked 347th) at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
