Volleyball Recap: Riverside Falls to Andress in Consecutive Matchups

After flying high against Tornillo on Tuesday, Riverside came back down to earth. The Rangers fell 3-1 to the Andress Eagles on Friday. If the Rangers were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Eagles when the teams met on August 21, 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Riverside had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-19, 11-25, 25-18, 25-21.

Riverside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sophia Samaniego, who had 24 assists, 21 digs, 15 kills, and three solo blocks. The team also got some help from Briana Salas, who had 31 digs and 10 assists.

Riverside has now lost seven of their last eight games on the road. That gives them an 8-8 record this season. As for Andress, they moved to 6-9 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Coming up, Riverside will welcome Horizon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Andress, they will head out on the road to face off against Chapin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
