Baseball Game Preview: Neptune Scarlet Fliers vs. Holmdel Hornets

For the second straight game, Neptune will face off against Holmdel. The Scarlet Fliers are taking a road trip to square off against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neptune has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Neptune is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Holmdel, falling 15-5.

For Holmdel's part, they got a massive performance out of Matt Iulo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Iulo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Rakoski, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Holmdel is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Neptune, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
