Softball Recap: Niagara Comes Up Short

Niagara and Newman Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Niagara had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 4-2. The Badgers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Paige Guardiola put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Guardiola wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alivia Kleikamp, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Niagara's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Newman Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-14.

As of now, neither Niagara nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
