Evansville Memorial picks up 16th straight win at home

Recap: Evansville Memorial Tigers vs. Linton-Stockton Miners

The Evansville Memorial Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Linton-Stockton by a score of 47-38. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Evansville Memorial also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

It was another big night for Sophie Johnson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Kelley, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.

Evansville Memorial pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for Linton-Stockton, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evansville Memorial's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Mt. Vernon has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 13. As for Linton-Stockton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Bloomfield at 7:30 p.m.
