Softball Preview: Graford Rabbits vs. Hermleigh Cardinals
The Graford Rabbits will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Hermleigh Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. Graford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Graford can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They never let Perrin-Whitt onto the board and left with a 21-0 win. Graford's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Trinity Leach made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Leach was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Graford got a massive performance out of Makayla Higgins, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Savahannah Martin, who went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI.
Meanwhile, Hermleigh unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Haskell.
Graford's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs per game. As for Hermleigh, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-6.
