Baseball Game Preview: Cascade Cadets vs. Clinton Prairie Gophers

The Cascade Cadets will head out to take on the Clinton Prairie Gophers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Cascade didn't have quite enough to beat Greencastle and fell 7-6. The Cadets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

J.T. Roshong made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Marcus Hobson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clinton Prairie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Sheridan on Wednesday.

Kye Jacobs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Clinton Prairie is undefeated when Jacobs posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Luke Harshbarger was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Edwards, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Clinton Prairie pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Cascade, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
