Softball Recap: Riverview Plays Ranked Contest

Riverview faced Salem in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Neither the Pirates nor the Rocks could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 tie. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Pirates have been dealt a draw since back in March.

Makayla Raymond spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Riverview's draw gives them a new season record of 23-6-2. As for Salem, they moved theirs to 20-5-1.

Riverview wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 17-0 victory against Annapolis on the 30th. As for Salem, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-0 loss against Northville on the 30th.
