Basketball Recap: Sikeston Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Farmington

On Tuesday, Sikeston faced Farmington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Sikeston Bulldogs took an 81-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Farmington Knights. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Farmington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan Schaupert, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 23 points. The matchup was Schaupert's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Ryder Gollaher was another key player, going 6 for 9 en route to 20 points.

Sikeston moved to 10-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Farmington, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Sikeston will face off against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sikeston's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Farmington, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 83-47 victory against North County on the 15th.
