Basketball Recap: Warner Comes Up Short

If Warner was riding high fresh off their 92-20 takedown of Julian on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats took a hard 59-42 fall against the Calipatria Hornets on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Defeat or not, Warner got some senior leadership from Johnny Garcia and Anthony Porras. Garcia dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Porras went 5-for-10 to rack up 11 points along with six assists and five steals. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Garcia.

Warner's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Calipatria, they moved to 3-18 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Warner won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Shores at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Calipatria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
