Basketball Recap: McClintock Comes Up Short

McClintock was the 60-59 winner over Canyon View when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The McClintock Chargers took a 62-44 bruising from the Canyon View Jaguars on Wednesday.

When it comes to explaining why McClintock lost, don't look at Lamaiya Woodberry. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 12 en route to 20 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Woodberry's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kamari Roddy, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, McClintock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

McClintock's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Canyon View, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

McClintock has already played their next game, a 69-31 defeat against Millennium on the 16th. As for Canyon View, they will take on Buckeye at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
