Basketball Recap: Mclaughlin Falls Short Against Ranked Lakota Tech

On Thursday, McLaughlin faced Lakota Tech in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The McLaughlin Mustangs took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakota Tech Tatanka. The Mustangs were probably out for revenge after losing 48-41 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lakota Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lizzie Robinson, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 16 points in addition to six assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Angeliyah Big Boy, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

With the loss, McLaughlin broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1. As for Lakota Tech, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

McLaughlin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 64-18 defeat against White River on the 20th. As for Lakota Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-43 loss against Rapid City Christian on the 20th.
