Basketball Recap: John Carroll Catholic Comes Up Short

John Carroll Catholic played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Wenonah Dragons, falling 66-35. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Dragons are ranked 30th).

It was another big night for Samarian Franklin, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 38 points and ten steals for Wenonah. That makes it four consecutive games in which Franklin has scored at least a third of Wenonah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aariyanah Parker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

John Carroll Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Wenonah, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-3.

John Carroll Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodlawn at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wenonah, they will head out to face off against Midfield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Midfield is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Wenonah a ten-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
