Tempe lost to Marcos de Niza back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Tempe Buffaloes skirted past the Marcos de Niza Padres 35-33. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buffaloes.

Kiari Montanez-Woods had a dynamite game for Tempe, putting up 20 points. Another player making a difference was Samarah Massicot, who posted eight points.

Despite the loss, Marcos de Niza still got an impressive performance from Leila Rodriguez, who put up nine points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Rodriguez has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tammie Wagner, who had five points and seven rebounds.

Tempe now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Marcos de Niza, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Tempe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 52-39 win against Goldwater on the 9th. As for Marcos de Niza, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-30 victory against Moon Valley on the 6th.
