Baseball Recap: Adair County's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Adair County extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 19-8 in the process. They blew past the Somerset Briar Jumpers 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Alex Martin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

As for Somerset, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-16. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 25-4 Whitley County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 78.3% over those games).

On Somerset's side, they got a good showing from Gunner Strunk, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Somerset saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Loy, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Another was Josh Bruner, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Adair County will head out to face off against Whitley County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colonels have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Somerset, they will face off against Corbin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Briar Jumpers are facing the Redhounds at the right time seeing as the Redhounds are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
