Volleyball Recap: Escondido Charter Takes a Loss

Escondido Charter entered their match against El Camino on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Tigers fell 3-1 to the Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Escondido Charter started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 27-25.

Their offense was headlined by OLIVE JOHNSON and AVERY PARK, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from EMMA LYON and her 15 assists. SIERRA MATTERS controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading El Camino to victory were Makayla Boone and Analecia Curran. Boone had 20 digs, while Curran had 14 digs and five kills. That's the most kills Curran has posted over her last ten games.

Escondido Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for El Camino, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Escondido Charter is taking a road trip to challenge Tri-City Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for El Camino, they will take on Oceanside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
