Football Recap: Lewisburg Patriots vs. DeSoto Central Jaguars
Lewisburg was the 14-7 winner over DeSoto Central when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Lewisburg Patriots had to suffer through a 42-7 loss at the hands of the DeSoto Central Jaguars. Jonathan Roberts was a one-man wrecking crew for DeSoto Central as he rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Roberts' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 115 rushing yards. Ter'Myihias Welch did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 124 receiving yards.
Lewisburg's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-9. As for DeSoto Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lewisburg is on the road again on Friday to play Tupelo at 7:00 p.m. Tupelo will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Lewisburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for DeSoto Central, they will challenge Madison Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully DeSoto Central likes a good challenge.
