Soccer Game Preview: West Jefferson vs. St. Mary's Dominican

West Jefferson hasn't had much luck against St. Mary's Dominican recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The West Jefferson Buccaneers will be home for the holidays to greet St. Mary's Dominican at 4:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

West Jefferson is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Mt. Carmel, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Cubs are ranked third).

Despite a strong season so far, St. Mary's Dominican has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Northshore. That's two games in a row now that St. Mary's Dominican has lost by just one goal.

St. Mary's Dominican's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. As for West Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7-1.

West Jefferson suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to St. Mary's Dominican in their previous meeting back in January. Can West Jefferson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
