West Carter and Lewis County are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Comets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

West Carter proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Morgan County 4-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lewis County took on Morgan County on Saturday. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Cougars.

Hunter Bivens made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Bivens was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lewis County let Kyran Ferguson and Conner Plank run wild. Ferguson scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Plank scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Ferguson also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brody Detillion, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Lewis County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Carter's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Lewis County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6.

West Carter suffered a grim 18-3 defeat to Lewis County in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
