Basketball Preview: Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons vs. Wootton Patriots
The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Wootton Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Bethesda-Chevy Chase will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
In what's become a running theme this season, Bethesda-Chevy Chase gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They put the hurt on Walter Johnson with a sharp 57-35 win. Given Bethesda-Chevy Chase's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Wildcats are ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Frances Doyle, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylin Harried, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Wootton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Bulldogs on Friday, but they still walked away with a 40-34 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Wootton.
Bethesda-Chevy Chase's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Wootton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Bethesda-Chevy Chase against the Patriots in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 72-43 win. Will Bethesda-Chevy Chase repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
