Softball Recap: Ripon Triumphs

Ripon won the last time they faced Westfield Area and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Quinn Goldapske was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Kwakkel, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Baker, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Ripon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westfield Area struck out 14 times.

Ripon's record is now 17-3. As for Westfield Area, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Looking ahead, Ripon will square off against New Holstein at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2.6, the Huskies 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Westfield Area, they will challenge Iola-Scandinavia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbirds have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season.
