Recap: Laurel Golden Tornadoes vs. Heidelberg Oilers

The Laurel Golden Tornadoes waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 15 straight wins but they left with 16. They blew past Heidelberg 56-35. Laurel has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Laurel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayllis Walker led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks. Walker hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Marissa Ulmer, who scored 20 points.

Laurel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. As for Heidelberg, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

Laurel will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Tomcats at 6:00 p.m. Stone will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 27th). As for Heidelberg, they will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
