Basketball Recap: Houghton Takes a Loss

Houghton suffered their closest defeat since December 19, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Hancock Bulldogs by a score of 44-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Gremlins came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 233rd).

Houghton's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Hancock, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houghton will take on Calumet at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Hancock, they will challenge Westwood at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
