Basketball Recap: Neumann-Goretti Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Neumann-Goretti extended their postseason success on Friday against Penncrest. They walked away with a 76-69 win over the Lions. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Lions are ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

DeShawn Yates continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9-for-14 en route to 34 points along with five assists and five steals. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 54% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alassan N'Diaye, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 13 points and seven boards.

Neumann-Goretti has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points over those games. Penncrest moved to 24-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Neumann-Goretti didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-53 win against Upper Moreland on the 21st. Penncrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
