Volleyball Recap: Mount Dora Takes a Loss

Mount Dora was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Merritt Island Mustangs.

While Mount Dora was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23, 25-13.

Jaeda Branham paced Mount Dora's offense, picking up ten kills. Branham got some help from Hollis Husebo and her ten assists. Husebo was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Sarah Niazi had a dynamite game For Merritt Island., getting 24 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Niazi has posted since back in August. Amber Ives was another key player, getting 21 assists and three aces.

Mount Dora's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Merritt Island, the victory was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-2.

Looking ahead, Mount Dora will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tavares at 5:30 p.m. Merritt Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
