Basketball Recap: Springfield Yellow Jackets vs. Kirkwood Cobras
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rossview, the Springfield Yellow Jackets were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 64-36 win over Kirkwood. With Springfield ahead 32-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Springfield was led to victory by Shemauria Pope and Rayne Erickson. Pope scored 16 points along with four steals, while Erickson dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavionna Farmer, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Springfield now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Kirkwood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Springfield will be playing at home against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kirkwood, they will head out on the road to challenge the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
