Softball Recap: Southeastern Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sumiton Christian, Southeastern was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Ranburne Bulldogs by a score of 6-1. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in March, they had to take a 6-1 defeat.

Ansley Spitzer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maci Vest was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kadence Gann, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Southeastern's victory bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Ranburne, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-12 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Southeastern will head out to face off against Vincent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.2 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ranburne, they will head out on the road to square off against Victory Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
