Basketball Recap: Carlson Starts off Right with Win over Roosevelt

Carlson gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 74-24 victory over the Roosevelt Bears. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-13.

Carlson had a senior duo take command as Matt MacBride posted 13 points and three steals and Austin Saavedra went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds. Those 16 points gave Saavedra a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Martin, who had eight points.

Roosevelt's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Carlson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-47 loss against Woodhaven on the 5th. As for Roosevelt, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-20 defeat against Allen Park on the 5th.
