Gardner-Edgerton had won three straight home games dating back to last season and Syre Padilla did his part to make it four on Friday. The Trailblazers managed a 34-28 victory over the St. Pius X Warriors thanks in part to Padilla, who rushed for 215 yards and a pair of scores. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 141 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Gardner-Edgerton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brett Cassida and Noah Foth.

The win got Gardner-Edgerton back to even at 1-1. As for St. Pius X, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gardner-Edgerton will square off against Shawnee Mission South on Friday. As for St. Pius X, they will challenge Cardinal Ritter College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
