Softball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Defenders vs. Illinois Lutheran Chargers

Heritage Christian hasn't had much luck against Illinois Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Defenders will welcome the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. Illinois Lutheran took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Heritage Christian, who comes in off a win.

Heritage Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Parkview Christian Academy with a sharp 25-5 win on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Illinois Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Beecher, falling 16-0.

The win got Heritage Christian back to even at 3-3. As for Illinois Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Heritage Christian suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Illinois Lutheran in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Defenders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
