For the first time this season, High Tech Mesa will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Victory Christian Academy Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Back in March, High Tech Mesa didn't have quite enough to beat Helix and fell 3-2.
High Tech Mesa took Helix into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Victory Christian Academy entered their matchup against The Cambridge School on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Knights fell 3-1 to the Griffins.
Victory Christian Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made The Cambridge School work for it, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 27-29, 29-27, 25-17.
High Tech Mesa will need to focus on slowing down Brad Chier, one of several Victory Christian Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He had 17 kills, 16 digs, two aces, and one block. Chier is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had seven or more in each of the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Esteban Torres, who had ten digs and two aces.
Victory Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for High Tech Mesa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
