Edsel Ford is 1-9 against Trenton since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Thunderbirds will welcome the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Edsel Ford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Edsel Ford's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Carlson hitters got past them. The Thunderbirds fell just short of the Marauders by a score of 10-9 on Thursday. While the Thunderbirds didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Marauders 6-2 in the first period.
Kaleb Hazimeh was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Adam Buck was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Trenton strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Lincoln Park.
Easton Curry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Curry was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Easton Demers looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Niko Beaudrie, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-1. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Henrik Parish, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Trenton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Trenton pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Edsel Ford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edsel Ford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trenton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Edsel Ford came out on top in a nail-biter against Trenton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
