There's no place like home for Pershing County, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They won by a set and slipped past the Battle Mountain Longhorns 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted against the Longhorns since October 14, 2022.

Pershing County wouldn't go down easily and took Battle Mountain into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-18, 25-16, 20-25, 16-14.

Khloe Montes paced Pershing County's offense, picking up 17 kills. Montes got some help from Jaymie George and her 19 assists. Montes was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Jazmin Johnson and Andrea Alcaraz-Lopez certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Johnson had 26 digs and two aces, while Alcaraz-Lopez had 21 digs. Alcaraz-Lopez has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 15 times she's played.

Pershing County's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Battle Mountain, their defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.

Pershing County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against West Wendover on the 27th. As for Battle Mountain, after both having extra time off, they and Silver Stage will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on October 3.
