League recap: Calvary Christian Academy climbs in standings with win

Calvary Christian Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in Citrus. Earlier in the week, the Royal Knights defeated the Royal Knights 56-27.

Louie Rodriguez was the best wideout in the league this week as Calvary Christian Academy fell to Mountain Empire. Rodriguez racked up two receptions for 76 yards. Justin Harrison helped Calvary Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.

Anthony Telles put up the best numbers through the air as Classical Academy lost to Vincent Memorial. He finished with a total of four completions for 71 yards and one touchdown. Telles' favorite target this week was Brenden Polancic, who caught one pass for 26 yards.

Harrison was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 175 yards on 21 carries as Gene Rheam's team fell to the Red Hawks. Teammate Rodriguez added to the ground attack by rushing for 39 yards.

5-foot-11 quarterback Hunter McConnell of Julian is the league leader in passing yards this season with 519. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, the Royal Knights' Harrison has rushed for 745 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Rodriguez. The Calvary Christian Academy star has nine catches for 277 yards.

The longest pass in the league this week came courtesy of Calvary Christian Academy's Trace Scheckel. The Royal Knights fell to Mountain Empire when he connected with Rodriguez on a 63-yard pass.
