Softball Recap: Daleville Starts off Right with Win over Randolph Southern

Daleville took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Randolph Southern Rebels with a sharp 25-0 win. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Emily Simmons made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Simmons was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Raegan Jackson was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Maddie Rees was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Randolph Southern's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Daleville has already played their next match, a 5-4 defeat against Wes-Del on the 15th. As for Randolph Southern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 22-8 loss against Tri on the 12th.
