Baseball Game Preview: Ellwood City Wolverine vs. Beaver Falls Tigers

Ellwood City is 8-2 against Beaver Falls since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wolverine will host the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Ellwood City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Ellwood City barely beat Laurel the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverine blew past the Spartans 10-3 on Thursday. The Wolverine haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Owen Andrews looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jacob Biskup was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Keller, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Ellwood City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurel only posted an OBP of .379.

Meanwhile, Beaver Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Mohawk Area, falling 16-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 23, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Ellwood City's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Beaver Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Ellwood City took their victory against Beaver Falls when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Wolverine have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
