The Hagerty Huskies will face off against the Colonial Grenadiers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hagerty has four straight victories, Colonial has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hagerty and Windermere meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Huskies narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wolverines 8-6.
Hagerty got a great performance from Ariana Hardman as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Hardman posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Ana Roman and Alexandra Beldowicz did most of the damage at the plate: Roman went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Beldowicz went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Beldowicz has posted since back in May of 2024. Hannah Hargrave was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Colonial lost 9-3 to Tohopekaliga on Wednesday.
Colonial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Montana Ashe, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Natalie Cabrera also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Hagerty's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Colonial, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
Colonial's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hagerty has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Colonial, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Hagerty's sizable advantage in that area, the Grenadiers will need to find a way to close that gap.
