Basketball Game Preview: Big Rapids Cardinals vs. Fremont Packers

The Big Rapids Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Fremont Packers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Big Rapids comes in on nine and Fremont on 13.

Big Rapids will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Ludington, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Big Rapids came out on top against Ludington by a score of 46-38 on Wednesday. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Orioles are ranked 145th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Fremont strolled past Newaygo with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 51-37.

Fremont's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.4 points. As for Big Rapids, their record now sits at 20-2.

Big Rapids took their victory against Fremont when the teams last played back in January of 2022 by a conclusive 61-35. In that game, Big Rapids amassed a halftime lead of 35-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
