The Master's Academy will be strutting in after a win while Lake Lure Classical Academy will be coming in after a loss.
The Master's Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 26 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Challenger with a sharp 53-27 win on Friday. Given The Master's Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Challenger is ranked 463rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The Master's Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Faith Yelton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Yelton has scored at least 25% of The Master's Academy's points. Macy Bumgarner was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lake Lure Classical Academy took a serious blow against Mountain View Christian Academy two weeks ago, falling 51-23. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lake Lure Classical Academy in their matchups with Mountain View Christian Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
The Master's Academy pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Everything came up roses for The Master's Academy against Lake Lure Classical Academy in their previous matchup back in November as the squad secured a 55-23 victory. With The Master's Academy ahead 30-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
