Softball Recap: Collegium Charter Victorious

Collegium Charter's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Calvary Christian Academy Cougars 6-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougar as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Hannah Quinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jorja Quinn, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaina Ulmer, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Collegium Charter picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-10. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Collegium Charter will head out to take on MAST Community Charter at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Cougar's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Renaissance Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
