Baseball Game Preview: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders vs. McAllen Bulldogs

The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the McAllen Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so McAllen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering McAllen Memorial just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McAllen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial by a score of 8-3 on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Sam De La Fuente spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Fernie Olivarez was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Justin Garza also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's defeat dropped their record down to 24-3. As for McAllen, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 4-15-3.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North came up short against McAllen in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
