Basketball Recap: Tri-Cities Bulldogs vs. Villa Rica Wildcats

There's no place like home for the Tri-Cities Bulldogs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They took down Villa Rica 58-41 on Saturday. Given Tri-Cities' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Wildcats are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri-Cities to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paris Shelton, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emari Benton, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Tri-Cities has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Villa Rica, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.

Tri-Cities will head out on the road to take on the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jackson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 contests -- so hopefully the Bulldogs like a good challenge. As for Villa Rica, they and the Knights will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Midtown will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
