Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Seffner Christian's Winning Streak

If Seffner Christian was feeling good fresh off their 53-16 takedown of Patel last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Seffner Christian Crusaders took a hard 55-40 fall against the George Jenkins Eagles on Tuesday. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

George Jenkins' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zakharia Rutledge, who went 10 for 15 on her way to 25 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Rutledge is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Taylor Gibson, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and four steals.

The defeat snapped Seffner Christian's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-4 record. As for George Jenkins, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Seffner Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-49 victory against McKeel Academy on the 23rd. George Jenkins has also already played their next contest, a 57-4 win against Lakeland on the 22nd.
