Basketball Recap: Overhills Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

On TuesdayHarnett Central kept up with Overhills until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. The Overhills Jaguars put the hurt on the Harnett Central Trojans with a sharp 64-44 victory. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Deshaun Barton was nothing short of spectacular: he went 8 of 14 en route to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Roland, who posted nine points along with six assists and five boards.

Overhills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

DJ Brown and Kaleb McKinnis certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Brown had 14 points, while McKinnis put up 11 points. McKinnis continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kemaury Haywood, who posted four points and nine rebounds.

Overhills pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Harnett Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Overhills will take on Triton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Triton has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 205 points over their last three contests. As for Harnett Central, they and Douglas Byrd will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Harnett Central is facing Douglas Byrd at the right time seeing as Douglas Byrd is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
