Basketball Game Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. Easley Green Wave

The Mauldin Mavericks will venture away from home to square off against the Easley Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mauldin has four straight wins, Easley has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Mauldin was able to grind out a solid victory over T.L. Hanna, taking the game 57-44.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-34, which was the final score in Easley's tilt against Greenwood on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Eagles are ranked 45th).

Mauldin pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Easley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Everything came up roses for Mauldin against Easley in their previous meeting on January 7th, as the squad secured a 56-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mauldin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
