Softball Recap: North Branford Beats Haddam-Killingworth for Their 11th Straight Victory

North Branford faced Haddam-Killingworth in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Thunderbirds never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Thunderbirds have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Lauren Vitarisi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Adriana Hills was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

The victory keeps North Branford at an undefeated 11-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average this season. As for Haddam-Killingworth, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.
