Barr-Reeve has gone 7-1 against Bloomfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Vikings will welcome the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. Barr-Reeve's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Bloomfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Barr-Reeve nor Shakamak made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Vikings fell just short of the Lakers by a score of 4-3. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Bloomfield never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Dugger Union. Considering the Cardinals have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Wiles made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bloomfield is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-10 otherwise. Wiles was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Bloomfield got a massive performance out of Aiden Scott, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The Cardinals are 5-1 when Scott posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Dillon Warnick was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Bloomfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Bloomfield pushed their record up to 9-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Barr-Reeve, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
Barr-Reeve took their win against Bloomfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
