While Cypress Ranch didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Klein Collins Tigers on Friday. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 6-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cypress Ranch got a great performance from Layla Gallardo as she struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Gallardo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Naomi Walker was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Massey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Cypress Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Cypress Ranch's record is now 7-4. As for Klein Collins, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Cypress Ranch didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 defeat against Tomball on the 28th. As for Klein Collins, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-3 loss against Cy-Fair on the 28th.
