Preview: Olathe North Eagles vs. Blue Valley West Jaguars

The Olathe North Eagles will take on the Blue Valley West Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Olathe North put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 56-10 victory over Shawnee Mission West at home. The victory was nothing new for Olathe North as they're now sitting on four straight.

Tj Porter was his usual excellent self, rushing for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Porter was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. Another player making a difference was Jamison Sarver, who threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes.

Meanwhile, Blue Valley West humbled Shawnee Mission North with a 69-35 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-21.

Blue Valley West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tate Nagy, who threw for 264 yards and six touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes. Sage Huffman was another key contributor, gaining 174 total yards and three touchdowns.

Olathe North's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Blue Valley West, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.

We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Olathe North and Blue Valley West have no problem gaining yardage. Olathe North has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 409.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like Blue Valley West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 401.9 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.

Olathe North lost to Blue Valley West on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Olathe North avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
