Kendall Taylor and Julian Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Taylor tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Garcia pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. At the plate, Taylor went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Garcia went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. West Oso is undefeated when Taylor posts three or more RBI, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, Ray DeLuna was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. He also put up three RBI, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Christian Gutierrez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, King came into Tuesday's game having lost 16 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Odem 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Brahmas have posted since March 2, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Jordan Villarreal, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
King always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
West Oso's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for King, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
King's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Oso has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .516. It's a different story for King, though, as they've only averaged .337. Will they be able to contain West Oso's hitters?
West Oso came up short against King in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, falling 5-2. Can West Oso avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
